AudioDev’s CATS BD analyzers can be upgraded to include analysis of inter-symbol interference (ISI).
The ISI analysis offers a unique possibility to get a clear picture of, for instance, the thermal effects taking place during the recording process. The data on a BD is stored using pits and lands of different length, called symbols. Due to both limited read-spot resolution and thermal effects during the recording phase, an inter-symbol interference effect makes the data on the disc more difficult to interpret in the reading phase. By careful analysis, it is possible to design recording strategies to compensate for this effect.
The ISI feature is available as a software functionality pack for the BD analyzers CATS B100 BD Pro (for BD-ROM) and CATS B600 BDR Pro (for BD-R/RE). For the BD-stamper analyzers, CATS B500 BD Stamper Pro (for BD-ROM) and CATS B00 BDR Stamper Pro (for BD-R/RE), the ISI-functionality is always included.
